The scimitar-horned oryx is a desert antelope named for its long, curved horns that resemble a scimitar sword. Once extinct in the wild, this remarkable species has made a comeback thanks to dedicated conservation and reintroduction efforts. Built for life in harsh desert environments, oryx can survive with very little water by getting much of the moisture they need from the plants they eat.
